Chennai school student appearing for Class 12 board exam ends life

CHENNAI: A 16-year-old student at a school in
Chennai, who appeared for the CBSE Class 12
exam on Tuesday, committed suicide at his house
in the evening.
. . The boy, S Monish, left behind a suicide note
which said he had "lost hope" due to exam
pressure
.
. Monish attended the English Paper - I
examination at his school in Gopalapuram on
Tuesday and returned to his home at Saidapet.
He ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of
his room.

His parents said he had been anxious about the
exam. His mother told TOI that her son asked
her to stay with him and give him confidence
while he was preparing for the exam. She was
with him and tried to give him confidence.
. . "My husband came down to Chennai from a Gulf
country to be with our son at the exam time,"
she said.
. . The body was taken to Bhavani in Erode district
for last rites.
