Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three nation
visit to Belgium, United States and Saudi Arabia.
Briefing media, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas
Swarup said in New Delhi that Mr Modi will be in Brussels on
30th of this month for India-EU Summit to deepen the
India-EU strategic partnership and advance collaboration in
priority areas of growth and development.
He said, European Union is India’s leading trade and
investment partner and biggest export destination.
Bilateral Summit meeting between Prime Minister Narendra
Modi and his Belgian counterpart Charles Michel will focus on
further enhancing the economic partnership.
During his second leg of visit, he will attend the 4th Nuclear
Security Summit (NSS) on March 31st to 1st of April at
Washington DC.
The NSS has been instrumental in focusing leaders’ level
attention on the global threat posed by nuclear terrorism
and urgent measures required to prevent terrorists and other
non-state actors from gaining access to sensitive nuclear
materials and technologies.
The 2016 Summit is expected to take stock of the progress of
the previous NSS Communiqués /Work Plan as also outline a
future agenda. The Prime Minister will also have bilateral
meetings on the sidelines of NSS.
On his way back home, Mr Modi will visit Saudi Arabia on 2nd
and 3rd of April.
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold discussions with
King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud on bilateral, regional and
multilateral issues of mutual interest.
Indians form the largest expatriate community in Saudi
Arabia and their contribution to progress and development of
their host country is well recognized.
There are over 2.96 million Indian nationals presently working
in Saudi Arabia.
